The Govt School Admission Circular 2027 will be issued by the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) under the Ministry of Education for admission to Class 1 to Class 9 in all government secondary schools of Bangladesh. This year the rules are different from the last six years. Class 1 seats will still be filled through a digital lottery, Class 6 to Class 9 are set to move to a written admission test, and the ministry is still deciding whether Class 2 to Class 5 will take a test or stay on the lottery. DSHE will first collect vacant-seat information from schools in November 2026 and then publish the circular. If the usual pattern holds, the online application will run on gsa.teletalk.com.bd in late November and early December 2026. The Ministry of Education has published a clear policy for government school admissions 2027. These are expected dates based on DSHE’s statements and last year’s schedule. We will replace them with the official dates as soon as the circular is released.

Govt School Admission Eligibility and Age Limit
There is no special qualification for admission to a government school. The main conditions are the right age (for Class 1), passing the previous class (for Class 2–9) and a valid online birth registration certificate.
Class 1 age limit
Under last year’s rule, a child applying for Class 1 had to be at least 5 years old on 1 January 2026 and not older than 7, which meant a birth date between 31 December 2018 and 1 January 2021. If DSHE keeps the same rule, a child born between 31 December 2019 and 1 January 2022 should be eligible for Class 1 in 2027. Please confirm the exact range in the 2027 circular. Last year, children with special needs received up to five years of age relaxation.
Class 2 to Class 9
The student must be studying in the previous class at a recognised institution in 2026. For example, a student applying for Class 6 in 2027 should be in Class 5 in 2026. Age for these classes follows the rule used at Class 1 admission, so the table below is only a guide:

Keep these ready before you apply: the student’s online birth registration certificate, a recent colour photo, the parent’s or guardian’s NID and a mobile number. For Class 2–9, also keep the current school’s details and the last result.
Quota and Reserved Seats in Government Schools
Government schools keep a share of seats for specific groups. The 2027 percentages come from the draft policy prepared in September 2026, so treat them as provisional until the circular is out.

Unfilled quota seats go to general applicants, so no seat is left empty. Children of government school teachers and staff get additional seats, and children of transferred government employees can get admission under the transfer rule (the draft adds 5% extra seats per section for them). If you claim a quota, tick the correct box in the online form and keep the proof ready for verification.
How to Apply for Govt School Admission 2027
Applications are accepted only online. Last year schools did not sell or distribute any paper form. Unless the 2027 circular says otherwise, the process will be:
- Visit gsa.teletalk.com.bd and open the Government School application.
- Enter the student’s information exactly as it appears on the birth registration certificate.
- Select division, district and thana, then choose up to five schools in order of preference.
- Select the class, shift and version (Bangla or English) and tick a quota only if it applies.
- Upload a colour photo of 300 × 300 pixels in JPG format.
- Check everything carefully, submit, and download or print the Applicant’s Copy with the User ID.
- Pay the application fee by Teletalk SMS.
The fee was Tk 100 last year, paid from a Teletalk prepaid number with two SMS to 16222 (GSA <space> User ID, then GSA <space> YES <space> PIN). Class 1: digital lottery
DSHE runs the Class 1 lottery centrally with software, usually at a public event in Dhaka that is streamed live. The system picks students at random from all valid applications against the vacant seats of each school, following your order of choice and the quota rules. Class 6 to Class 9: admission test
Applicants for Class 6–9 are expected to take a written test in Bangla, English and Mathematics and will need an admit card from gsa.teletalk.com.bd. Seats will be given in order of merit, with quota seats filled first. Whether Class 2–5 applicants also sit for a test will be confirmed in the final policy.
Result and Final Admission
Results are expected in the second half of December 2026 on gsa.teletalk.com.bd, as a merit list and waiting lists for each school. Admission windows are short: last year the merit list was admitted on 17–21 December and the two waiting lists on 22–24 and 27–30 December 2025.
For final admission, take the printed Applicant’s Copy and result copy, the original online birth registration certificate with a photocopy, the parents’ original NID cards with photocopies, recent photos of the student, the transfer certificate and last result (for Class 2–9) and the quota proof if you applied under a quota. Schools verify the birth certificate online, and a seat won with false information is cancelled.
